What Leaving a Corporate Job Taught Me
For years, a salary arrived on a predictable schedule. There was comfort in that predictability.
Leaving a corporate job changes your relationship with time. A Monday morning is no longer something imposed on you. Your income is no longer somebody else's promise.
That freedom is wonderful. It is also a responsibility.
Freedom needs structure
Without a boss, you have to become your own boss. Without a fixed timetable, you have to decide what deserves your best hours.
I learned that independence is not the absence of discipline. It requires more of it.
And perhaps that is the real trade: less external certainty in exchange for more ownership of your life.
